The Over the Mountain Miracle League is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that provides children with mental and/or physical challenges an opportunity to play baseball as a team member in an organized league. For individuals facing physical and mental disabilities, the opportunity to participate in organized sports can often be difficult to achieve. The Miracle League removes the barriers from the baseball field to allow them to experience the joy of America’s favorite pastime.

A significant barrier for individuals that need assistive devices for walking are the natural grass fields used in conventional youth leagues. Over the Mountain Miracle League has a dedicated baseball field at Hoover Sports Park East consisting of a custom-designed, rubberized turf field that accommodates wheelchairs and other assistive devices.

But it’s also more than playing a game. The Miracle League is about making new friends, building self-esteem and being treated just like other people. To help the athletes, the Miracle League uses a “buddy” system – pairing each player with an able-bodied peer through community volunteers to provide assistance and encouragement. This partnership benefits both sides as they share the great American pastime to find common ground and, most importantly, friendships.
"Volunteering at OTM Miracle League is so much fun! I have become friends with several players and I really look forward to seeing them!" - from a Buddy

Over the Mountain Miracle League's inaugural season was in Spring 2014 at the Hoover East ballpark. The first Miracle League field opened in Conyers, Georgia in April 2000. There are presently 240 plus Miracle League Organizations across the country including Puerto Rico and Canada, while serving 200,000 plus children and adults.
